Barry has fantastic transport links not only around the town, but to Cardiff and around the Vale. With three main train stations in Barry (Barry, Barry Docks and Barry Island) as well as local bus routes you can easily get from one end of Barry to another in a few minutes, or venture further afield to neighbouring towns such as Penarth, Dinas Powys, Cowbridge and Cardiff.
Cardiff airport is only a stones throw away from Barry in the village of Rhoose. With trains, buses or short drive to the airport, worldwide travel is never too far away.
Away from the busy town, Barry has some beautiful parks for all the family to enjoy. Porthkerry Park is situated in the West end of the town ideal for families to take their children to play and to take the dog for a walk at the same time. The Knap is also a great place to take a stroll with local cafes, and restaurants on the outskirts of the park, you can easily spend the day there.
Barry boasts a large number of local and independent shops as well as some major national retailers. High Street, Broad Street and Park Crescent are known for their local independent shops offering some fantastic boutiques. Holton Road, whilst also promoting local businesses are also home to high street retailers and banks.
Living in Barry you benefit from being surrounded by some of the most beautiful beaches in South Wales. As well as having Barry Island and Jackson’s bay right on your doorstep, the Island has recently seen a revamp of the Pleasure Park with some new and fantastic rides, with more due to be added over the next year. There are some stunning views of the sea from a number of areas across Barry including The Knap, Barry Island, Marine Drive and Rhoose.
There are also some great beaches in the surrounding areas such as Penarth Pier, Sully beach and Llantwit Major beach.
Living in Barry you are only a short journey from the busy city centre of Cardiff. Full of shops, restaurants and cafes as well a great night life, the cosmopolitan city will keep you busy all day and night!
